Macquarie Institution is a Sydney, Australia-based public research university that was established in 1964. In terms of Macquarie University rankings, the university has been placed between 201 and 300 by ARWU Shanghai Ranking for three years in a row, from 2012 to 2020. The ARWU Shanghai ranking chooses to rank universities by taking into account the calibre of academic research they produce and the number of Nobel Prizes their staff has won as part of their ranking methodology rather than taking into account an institution's reputation among academics or employers.
