What is the Inlaks Foundation Scholarship?
The Inlaks Scholarship 2021 is of two types – for university programs and specific courses. Other than this, there are other scholarships available under this gambit:
- Inlaks Fine Arts Awards
- Inlaks Theatre Awards
- Inlaks Research Travel Grant
- Inlaks Fellowship for Indian Music
- Inlaks Ravishankaran Program
Under the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarships 2021, one can also be eligible for fellowships, internships and awards. However, one must note that it is not applicable for Engineering, Medicine, Public Health, Computer Science or Business Studies.
What is the Eligibility Criteria?
Candidates must be Indian students and have resided in India for a minimum of six months. In addition, they must fulfil the following requirements:
- Applicants should not be more than 30 years of age.
- They must hold a first-class degree from a renowned university.
- International students who have applied for the scholarship must have resided in India prior to the application.
- Suppose candidates have been pursuing a degree in the field of Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Fine Arts, Architecture and related subjects. In that case, they must have a minimum academic grade of 65%, CGPA of 6.8, or GPA of 2.6 from a recognised university/institution.
- However, suppose they have been pursuing a degree in the fields of Mathematics, Sciences, Environment and related subjects. In that case, candidates must have a minimum academic grade of 70%, CGPA of 7.2, or GPA of 2.8 from a recognised university/institution.
In addition, the other scholarships have their own set of eligibility parameters. They are underlined for easier understanding:
- Inlaks Fine Arts Awards
Candidates must have completed their post-graduation or graduation from an esteemed organisation. Those students pursuing a degree in Visual Arts and are in their final year are also eligible. Furthermore, those applicants who do not have a degree in Fine Arts but have hosted art exhibitions are considered eligible to apply.
- Inlaks Theatre Awards
Candidates must be below 35 and should have completed their graduation or post-graduation from any recognised university. However, candidates without any formal degree will be assessed on their previous notable achievements.
- Inlaks Research Travel Grant
Candidates must be under 35 years of age. They should have a first class in graduation or a Master’s degree. In addition, candidates must have received their PhD confirmation in Social Sciences and Humanities for a minimum of two years, although it has not exceeded more than four years.
In addition, candidates must appear for English proficiency exams such as TOEFL, IELTS and PTE. However, they need to attain this certification before applying for the course. They should also appear for GRE as well.
The maximum scholarship provided is INR 72,000, covering tuition, accommodation, and a one-way travel allowance.

What Is the Application Process?
One can apply for Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarships from the portal. The scholarships are generally available from February 15, 2022, to March 30, 2022. An individual is allowed to submit only a single application. One can apply by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarship.
Step 2: A terms and conditions tab will appear, which candidates have to agree to proceed. However, one must read the terms and conditions carefully before doing so. Then navigate to the tab via ‘Click here’.
Step 3: Enter details such as your name, date of birth and gender.
Step 4: Attach a valid passport, resume and a photo.
Step 5: Enter your mobile number and email. Insert the verification code received on your mobile number or email.
Step 6: Provide details such as correspondence and permanent address along with the City and State you belong.
Step 7: Next, provide your admission requirements. This includes the subject and the course you are applying for. Also, state how long your course duration is.
Step 8: Candidates must clearly state whether they have applied for any concessions or grants, except Inlaks. Moreover, they must highlight if they have applied for loans of any kind.
Step 9: One needs to tick the English language requirements.
Step 10: In the following two sections, candidates need to state their university education and work experience. They also must highlight if they have received any academic distinctions, grants or scholarships while pursuing their degree. Furthermore, one must outline if they have attained any awards in their extracurricular activities.
Step 11: Candidates also need to fill out the Statement of Purpose. Here, they must talk about the course in detail and how it aligns with one’s career goals. One must also state the reasons for pursuing education abroad. In addition, they must state whether Inlaks Scholarship Board has previously interviewed them and whether they have lived in India for the past six months.
Step 12: Last but not least, they must fill out references and submit a declaration.
Candidates must have the following documents:
- The institute’s financial requirements
- Photocopy of the first and last pages of the passport
- One reference letter
- Acceptance letter from the university
- Candidates applying in Music, Architecture, Fine and Applied Arts, and Acting need to upload their portfolio.
What Is the Selection Process?
Over the years, more than 600 scholars have awards from Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarships. The selection process is very competitive, and candidates must appear for a preliminary interview in either Delhi or Mumbai. Only those who clear this round are called for a final round of interviews.
