Obesity is slowly becoming an epidemic in today's fast paced life. This has led to various health issues in overweight people. A sedentary lifestyle and non-standard portion sizes are two top contributing reasons to the problem. As world become smaller, no distance is out of reach with right mode of travel. People prefer taking their cars or metro-rails between places, avoiding walking to save time. As social media and online streaming services keep us hooked, spending time indoors have made us a couch potato. Since we are not active, most of the energy we get from food unutilized and stored as fat. For example, while I was working in a high pressure job few years ago, I used to watch TV till late night rather than going for a walk. I beleived that it helped me unwind after a stressful day not realizing that it was making me fat as I had a sitting job in office as well. With food delivery apps popping up on everyday basis, getting food delivered at your doorstep is now easier than everr. Though, there are healthier options available, portion sizes can really surprise you. Some restaurant have portion size even smaller for one person while few restaurants have portion size sufficient for 2 or even more. Then unability to judge the portion size often lead to overeating. For example, few months back, I ordered food from a new restaurant and the portion size were huge while my regular outlet have much smaller portion sizes. So much so, that I usually need to order a side dish to ensure that I have enough to eat. In conclusion, going back to an active lifestyle and contolling the portion size could help people in keeping their weight in check. This will not only help us keep physically fit but also help us keep mentally healthy.

Being overweight was considered healthy in the ancient times meanwhile in todays fast paced time obesity is the leading reason for mortality. There are many reasons for obesity such as fast-food services, reduced physical activity, fatphobic trends, eating disorders etc. However, these can be controlled by preventive measures such as exercise, healthy diet, resticting highly processed foods etc. Firstly, one of the major issue with obesity is fast-food services, along with numerous unhealthy options available at minimal prices whereas organic and healthy alternatives are priced higher which makes it difficult to choose healthy options. People's health has been drastically affected by being fat, it relies heavily on adiposity in present days. This essay will suggest possible problems stemming from this situation, including overall health deterioration and low self-esteem and depression, then argue that lifestyle modifications and avoiding negative talks and bullying while being focused are the most viable solutions. The foremost problems of obesity are that it affects every organ of the body and reduces self-confidence which may lead to stress and anxiety. Excess weight has a tremendous impact on organs like the liver, the heart, the lungs and the kidneys as the body mass index increases, fat accumulates around these organs leading to issues like liver cirrhosis, heart valve blockage, water retention in the body and difficulty in breathing. Furthermore, the consequences of obese conditions might be on mental health as a person would not take bullying and may start feeling bad about themself resulting in being less confident and becoming suicidal. For instance, a recent study states that there are many cases of suicides based on less self-worth and high negative thinking towards oneself. The solutions to these problems involve changing lifestyles and remaining on the right track without being affected by bad comments. Eating fruits and vegetables and curbing the junk intake would greatly assist in mitigating weight. Portion control and exercises should be included in the weightloss regime to see better results. Additionally, not paying attention to toxic people and keeping going without deviations would be useful in alleviating mental stress. For instance, I was bullied all my childhood for being fat, however, it did not stop me from achieving my dream weight. To conclude, although numerous health difficulties are faced by corpulence including declining overall well-being and poor mental health, doing things moderately in life and concentrating on one's journey is precisely needed in tackling such adversities.

Furthermore, children nowadays, prefer to spend inordinate time playing video games on smart phones or ipads or just simply watch Youtube videos. They are reluctant to go outside and play a sport with their peers. For instance, when the Pandemic hit the world all the large organisations started Remote working system. The same was applicable for children as schools also went on Online mode. This eventually, led to sedentary lifestyle for both adults and children which enhanced obesity to a great extent. In order to curb the increasing weight issues among the populations, it is imperative on the part of the authorities not to promote convenience eating products during sports matches and family shows through commercials. I will discuss some contributing factors in this dilemma and some solutions. To begin with, there are multiple factors that impact the overall health and weight of an individual. People spent long hours sitting in front of their desks with little to no physical movement. This leads to a sedentary lifestyle where people do not take out the time to work out or exercise. The busy schudules leave little to no time for any physical activity and they don't tend to make an effort. Moreover, with such busy and fast moivg pace of life, people rely on eating the food on the go that is heavily relying on junk food. Instead of having a proper well balanced diet, society has seen a trend towards eating fastfood. Therefore, increasing the number of people with unhealthy weight gain to the point of being obese. However, some steps need to be taken inorder to curb this curse. People who have to work for longer hours should take frequent breaks from their desks. For example, take a 5 minute break after sitting for I hour. Do some stretching excercises or walk around the office. Similarly, try following a more active lifestyle, making work-out a priority. For instance, try walking to the nearest store instead of going by the car. Lastly, making good choices with food can help us a long way. Eating a well balanced home cooked food should be priority for anyone who wants to live a healthy life. In conclusion, I believe that it is of paramount importance that we prioritize our health before anything else. People are becoming more dependent on fast foods, which are posing problems of obesity in many people following sedentary lifestyle. In this essay, I would focus more on the disadvantages obesity is causing to the community and how it can be rectified. Firstly, people who are employed in a busy jobs, do not get much time to cook food in their houses, due to which they rely more on fast foods for their meals. The fast foods are readily available at the takeaway counters and don't take much time to prepare. However, it becomes a matter of convenience for the workaholics. These people tend to gain weight due to sedentary lifestyle and improper diet plans. Additionally, these people do not do any kind of physical activity due to which they tend to become obese. Furthermore, it will lead to stroke in such people and may require shunt surgery. Moreover, individuals can incorporate certain measures like having roasted foods which do not have trans fat and are rich in proteins and antioxidants. They should follow strict diet plans and should also do physical activities which involve rigorous cardiovascular exercises such as swimming, playing badminton, tennis and jogging. These activities will help to burn trans fat in their bodies. Living a healthy life is always linked to the eating habits of the person. Obesity is a world problem today as every second person we meet is obese. It leads to complications like cardio-vascular problems, arthritis, fatty liver and much more. How is obesity related to eating habits, what causes obesity and how to manage weight? Let us deep dive into these. It is common knowledge that poor eating habit is the number one culprit causing obesity. But that is not the only reason. Medical conditions, family history, lack of physical activities, stress, poor sleeping habits, pregnancy etc., could be other important causes attributing to obesity. Women are more prone to being over weight as they fight conditions like PCOS, hypo-thyroidism to name a few. Post pregnancy weight-loss is another challenge that every new mother faces. Now that we know the causes, how do we address the over-weight issue? To stay fit, a well balanced diet is essential regardless of one's age, gender, socio-economic status or health condition. A weight-loss journey's success is determined by 80% diet and 20% exercises. A good friend of mine complained about not losing weight despite burning calories in gym everyday. Eat all you want and count your steps on a treadmill next day leads you nowhere. There are many types of diets that are widely followed these days. Keto diet, intermittent fasting, hunter-gatherer diets, fad diets to name a few. One must consider the body type and medical history, before choosing the diet type to manage weight. Good health is inversely proportional to the number that the weighing scale shows. The most vulnerable asset that we inherit from our ancestors is our body. It is of utmost importance that we take care of that and nothing comes ahead of healthy eating in that process. Let us all promise ourselves that we will fight obesity the right way.
