What is the full form of dMAT, and what does the exam actually test?

dMAT stands for Digital Master Test, also written as Digital Master Assessment Test. It is a computer-based academic aptitude test that measures how you reason and solve problems under time pressure, not how much you remember from your undergraduate syllabus. There is no chapter-wise syllabus for you to revise from a textbook.

Who runs the dMAT and why it exists

The test was introduced by APS India and is administered by g.a.s.t. (Gesellschaft für Akademische Studienvorbereitung und Testentwicklung), the same German organisation behind TestDaF and TestAS. It sits as an additional document inside the APS verification process for select Master's applicants from India, effective for the Summer Semester 2027 intake onward.

What the exam actually assesses

Because the dMAT is an aptitude test, it looks at your reasoning and problem-solving ability rather than subject knowledge from your degree. That is why you will not find a topic list to memorise. Your preparation is about practising the format and thinking style, not revising content.
