What Is the Best Strategy for the dMAT General Academic Module's Mixed Topics?
Spend the first 1 to 2 minutes scanning all available topics before answering anything, advises one of our students who sat the dMAT. She then tackled passages matching her strengths first, math then chemistry then theory-based topics, and saved unfamiliar areas like options trading and DFA for last.
With around 10 tasks spread across 90 minutes, roughly 9 minutes per task, having an order of attack for the General Academic Module matters, and this approach comes from one of our student's own dMAT attempt.

This matters because every question carries equal weight, so there is no benefit to burning your best focus on a topic you are weakest in before you have banked the answers you are most confident about.
My Advice
Map your own strongest and weakest academic areas before exam day, not during it, so your scanning phase is about confirming your plan rather than building one from scratch under time pressure. If math is not your strength, expect the three math-heavy passages to take longer even though the data you need is given in the question, and budget your early scanning time accordingly.
