For STEM-designated courses in the USA, international students receive an initial 12-month Optional Practical Training (OPT) period after graduation. They can then apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension if their job is related to their STEM degree and their employer is registered with E-Verify.

This allows for up to 36 months (3 years) of post-study work authorization.
