When I take the dMAT for my German Master's, what does the Core Module cover?
→The dMAT Core Module is the common aptitude section of the Digital Master Test and is identical for every candidate, whatever their German Master's program. It does not test undergraduate syllabus. It checks thinking ability, pattern recognition, mental calculation and logical reasoning under time pressure.
What sections will I face in the dMAT Core Module for my Germany master's admission?
→Every dMAT candidate takes the Core Module, which typically has three sections: Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares. Each has around 20 questions and is listed at about 25 minutes. Notes, rough sheets and calculators are not permitted, so check the official page.
What is the TestDaF exam, and will I need it if I want to study in Germany?
→TestDaF is a German language test for non-native speakers, mostly used for admission to German universities. It checks reading, listening, writing and speaking, at a level between B2 and C1 on the CEFR scale. You may need it for study, research or work in Germany, so check your university.
Do I need to know German to study a bachelor's at a public university in Germany?
→Yes, most bachelor's programmes at public universities in Germany are taught in German, so you must show German proficiency before admission. Accepted tests include TestDaF, DSH and the Goethe Certificate. The required level varies by university, and many Studienkollegs expect roughly B2.
Will I need Studienkolleg to study a bachelor's in Germany after my Class 12 in India?
→In most cases, yes. Most students with Class 12 from CBSE, ISC or State Boards are not eligible for direct admission to bachelor's programmes at German public universities. They typically complete a Studienkolleg and pass the final examination, the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP), before applying for bachelor's degrees.
Which GPA or percentage do I need to get into TU Berlin as an Indian student?
→There is no single official cutoff at TU Berlin, and it varies by program. As a planning baseline, around 70 percent or CGPA 7.0 out of 10 is a general threshold, while competitive programmes such as Computer Science typically look for 75 to 85 percent. Check each programme page.
Am I allowed to apply directly to a bachelor's programme at TU Berlin as an Indian student?
→Most Indian students cannot apply directly to a bachelor's programme at TU Berlin, because Germany expects 13 years of schooling while India has 12. They typically complete a one-year Studienkolleg to earn the HZB qualification needed to apply. Check the official TU Berlin page for your case.
Do I need Studienkolleg or extra university study to enter a bachelor's programme at TU Berlin?
→Indian students with only 12th grade typically need a Studienkolleg, a preparatory year ending in an entrance exam in German and mathematics. Direct entry may be possible after one additional year of recognised university study in India. Most bachelor's programmes are taught in German and typically need C1 proficiency.
