A backlog is a subject or exam you failed on your first attempt. Most universities accept a Master's application with backlogs if they are cleared before you enrol. The USA, UK and Canada count each failed subject once, while Australia, Germany and New Zealand count every failed attempt separately.

For an MBA abroad you should take the GMAT or the GRE, since both are widely accepted worldwide and admissions committees have no strong preference between them. The CAT is designed for Indian IIMs and rarely accepted overseas. You will also need an English test like IELTS, TOEFL or PTE.

First calculate your CGPA by multiplying each subject grade points by its credits, summing them and dividing by total credits. Then convert CGPA to percentage using your multiplier, usually 9.5, and apply it to your maximum marks. For the US or Canada, WES may evaluate credits.

The USA remains the overall best country for an MS in Computer Science thanks to its tech ecosystem, top salaries and three-year STEM OPT. But Germany wins on near-free tuition, Canada on a clear PR path, the UK on fast one-year degrees and Ireland as a European tech hub.

It depends on your priority. Pick the UK for a fast three-year degree near global finance hubs, the USA for the highest salaries, Canada for the clearest PR route and Germany for near-free tuition. Most need 70 to 80 percent in 12th and IELTS 6.5 or higher.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM degrees matter because they unlock longer post-study work rights, such as 3 years total OPT in the USA versus 1 year standard, plus targeted immigration draws in Canada, priority processing in Australia, and stronger salaries worldwide.

Germany offers the best value for PCM students with near-zero tuition and total costs of Rs 12-18 lakh yearly, the USA leads research and computer science with 3-year STEM OPT, the UK suits PCB students with 3-year degrees, while Canada and Australia offer strong work and migration pathways.

Germany leads for low-fee MBAs, with public universities charging just Rs. 25,000 to 40,000 per semester, followed by Canada (Rs. 10-25 lakh, 3-year work permit and PR routes), France (Rs. 8-15 lakh, 1-year courses) and Poland (Rs. 5-10 lakh). Pair applications with DAAD, Eiffel or OGS scholarships.
