So, I would like to describe a rule that was there in my school. My school was rather strict. I studied in the school since 4th standard up to my 12th standard. So, it was more strict compared to other schools. It had rules like we have to tie up the hair, the uniform should be proper with shoes and all. All those were good and they made also strict that students should attend the Bhagavad Gita class. And even though all these were mandatory, these were also good for the development of students. But the one thing that I found not pleasing was the rule that everyone should bring rice for their lunch. So, it is a personal choice and it will not be possible in every home to cook rice. Actually, in my home, during at that time, my brother was too young, he was like 1 or 2 years old and he used to be pestering my mother all the way from morning. So, it was very tedious for my mother to manage both my brother and to cook food for me. She had to cook both breakfast and the lunch together and also manage the small kid all to before and all these she has to do before 7 o'clock. Because at 7.15, my bus used to arrive. So, it was very difficult for her to manage all these things. In spite of all these, she cooked rice for me only for the sake of following these rules. I also didn't prefer to have rice. But still, as the school authority made it mandatory to bring rice.

Follow up questions

How did you feel about the strict rules in your school?
I felt that while some rules were beneficial for discipline, others, like the rice rule, were unnecessary. It created stress for my family, and I believe that schools should consider students' personal circumstances when implementing rules.

Were there any other rules you disagreed with?
Yes, another rule I disagreed with was the strict dress code. While I understand the importance of uniforms, I felt that it limited our self-expression. It would have been nice to have some flexibility in how we could present ourselves.

How did your classmates react to the rice rule?
Many of my classmates shared similar feelings about the rice rule. Some found it challenging to bring rice every day, and there were discussions about how it was unfair. We often talked about our lunch preferences and how it would be better if we could bring what we liked.

One rule that I hated when I was in school was to wear white uniform during Saturdays. I disliked it because I need to be very careful because white catches stain easily and as a result of which I do not participate in various sports such as football, cricket etc. in the fear of getting my white uniform dirty. And it was not just me, there were a lot of students from my class as well as from the junior and senior batch who really disliked this rule and have even appealed to the administration to revoke this rule. But sadly the decision makers didn't took us seriously and this rule prevails even today. I remember that once I forgot to wear the white uniform because of some examination pressure and because of which I was given punishment of standing in front of the entire school in the morning assembly. That was extremely embarrassing and as a child it made a strong impression in my mind that never ever tend to violate any rule otherwise you know I'll be prone to embarrassment.

Follow up questions

How did the rule affect your participation in school activities?
The rule significantly limited my participation in sports and other activities. I was always worried about getting my uniform dirty, which made me miss out on fun experiences with my friends. It created a sense of anxiety around school events, as I felt I had to choose between following the rule and enjoying my time.

What other rules did you find difficult to follow in school?
Apart from the white uniform rule, I found the strict no-phone policy quite challenging. It felt outdated, especially since we could use phones for educational purposes. Many students felt disconnected from their families during school hours, which added to the stress of being in a controlled environment.

How did your classmates react to this rule?
Many of my classmates shared my feelings about the white uniform rule. We often discussed it and even organized a petition to present to the school administration. However, our efforts were largely ignored, which made us feel powerless and frustrated as students who wanted to express our opinions.

Well, it is a very interesting topic for me because when I was a school-going girl, I loved those days. I consider those days the golden days of my life. But here, today I am going to talk about a rule I don't like, which was a punishment on homework. That time, I have no time to do all subject homework on time. Sometimes, I did not homework any particular subject. That time frame, our teacher was punished to us, all students and that's why all students hesitate to go, hesitate when to the school and I think that it was not a good punishment.

Follow up questions

How did the punishment affect your attitude towards school?
The punishment made me feel anxious about going to school. I started to associate school with stress rather than learning. It created a negative atmosphere, and I often felt overwhelmed by the pressure to complete all my homework on time.

What alternative methods of discipline do you think would have been better?
I believe that instead of punishment, teachers could have offered support or extra time for students who struggled with homework. Encouraging discussions about difficulties could have fostered a more positive learning environment and helped students manage their workload better.

Did you ever talk to your teachers about this rule?
Yes, I did. I approached my teacher once to express my concerns about the homework punishment. I suggested that it might be more effective to provide help rather than punishment. However, the response was that they believed it was necessary to maintain discipline in the classroom.

It's a very interesting question actually. In our school days there was a major rule which was very strictly followed by everyone and which was strictly implemented by the teachers as well that was to speak only in English whenever you are communicating with the colleagues, whenever you are communicating with the peer groups or with the students which was really hectic during that time when my mother tongue was not actually English language it's Kannada so it was really hard to catch up with that but later on we started to agree for the things and start to learn English which had paid better results now. I feel happy for the rule now but when I look back long ago I feel it's little bit unconvincing most of the time everyone in our class used to follow this rule except few who are naughty like me we used to chit-chat in our own mother tongue language that is Kannada whenever teachers used to notice us we used to try to change our language to English of course I prefer now a days not to make any school students to make only one language to speak it's left to them to learn or not but teaching is the only main criteria of teachers instead implementing it in a very strict way as a rule is not recommended. Anyhow I am happy that my school life had given me enough English knowledge such that now I am able to write in IELTS exam or speak in English how much ever I am able to now this much I can't tell you about that.

The rule I didn't like in my school was we should never be late and the people who are late are going to miss the first class of the school but sometimes what happens is students get stuck in the traffic which is very unfortunate and I feel that this rule should be removed in few schools in which these rules are being implemented. I personally feel that students and teachers should be treated equally when the rules are implemented. Sometimes when teachers do come late they don't face any consequences but children or students studying in the school have to miss the class consequently. So I feel that these rules should be equally implemented on students as well as teachers. Even some of the students in the school feel the same opinion like me. So I would like to say rules should be strictly implemented to all the people equally.

Follow up questions

How do you think schools can improve their punctuality rules?
Schools can improve punctuality rules by considering factors like traffic and allowing some flexibility. They could implement a grace period for students arriving late due to unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, schools could educate students about time management and provide resources to help them arrive on time.

What other rules in schools do you think need to be revised?
Other rules that might need revision include strict dress codes and limited use of technology. Dress codes can stifle self-expression, while technology can enhance learning. Schools should adapt rules to reflect modern society and the needs of students, promoting a more inclusive and effective learning environment.

How do you think students can express their opinions about school rules?
Students can express their opinions about school rules through student councils, suggestion boxes, or open forums. Engaging in discussions with teachers and administrators can also be effective. It's important for schools to create an environment where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and suggestions.

  • Mention the general sentiment among your classmates regarding the rule.
  • Share any specific instances or discussions that highlight their feelings.

Most of my classmates shared my sentiments about the dress code. We often talked about it during lunch breaks, and many felt that it was outdated. Some even organized a petition to allow more freedom in our clothing choices, but it didn’t gain much traction.

Cue 3:Did you ever violate this rule?

  • Discuss any instances where you or your peers broke this rule.

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Hi, this is Abhiniya. I did my schooling in Congo, Metropolitan High Secondary School, St. Parmati. In that school, they have a rule that the girls should ride in double plates with the double plates. And then most of the people get double plates because they have long hair, long and broad hair. I do have medium hair and also I didn't like to double plate my hair, double braid my hair. And also my mother is working, so that she also didn't have time to double braid my hair. So that what I and my sister will do is, we will go to the barber shop and we will cut our hair and we will go to the school. And then in the prayer, they will check, the disciplinary committee will check how the persons came to the school. In that time, they will catch us and they will ask, why didn't you braid your hair? And we will say, we do have a short hair and how can we braid our hair? And they will say, you should braid your hair. You have this much of length in your hair, no? Then go and braid a hair like that, she will say. And then what can we do? And also my mother wouldn't let us cut more than that length, so that she will braid our hair daily to the school or else we will go late to the assembly area. Yeah, most of the people and our gang will go and cut the hair. And yeah, this is the rule.

Hi, so one of these rules in my school was that people were not allowed to bring their own food from their house rather it was compulsory to buy the food from the school canteen. Now of course there were some logics behind this rule, the school wanted people to eat the hygienic food and of course the food was given in proper packing and then there were varieties of the dishes that were being prepared in the school and I guess the ultimate goal of the school foundation was that the people are aware of different dishes, they are aware that how to eat them and of course with the name of those dishes. But in my opinion if someone is able to bring the food from their home then there should not be any problem because food that is coming from home is of course more hygienic than the one is being prepared in the school as far as the names of those dishes are concerned so of course that can be learnt even if people do order the food occasionally from the school canteen and there were many students who did not like this rule because they all wanted to bring the food from their house, everyone liked that way the food was being prepared. I have

In my school days, there was a rule that if students come late to class, they should stand in the ground for about the whole day. This happened almost every single day. In my opinion, I didn't like this rule because there will be some reasons why the students are late to school. Even though if the reason is valid, the PT sir or the madam who are there won't allow. Like for example, one time I had been late to school because there was a road traffic accident. So I fell down, even I got small scratches in my hands and feet, but still they did not allow me. I was standing in the ground in the scorching sun for about the whole day. The other kids in the school also did not like this rule because they might lose the whole day class. That is why they didn't like the rule. However, the new principal told she will change the rule, but she also didn't do anything effectively. I did not violate this rule because I wanted to be a good student in the school and gain a good name in the school. Thank you.

Rules are very important for everyone because by rules people can make their life easier as well as hard however today I would like to talk about a rule which is very important in my school and I did not like it. Wearing a school identity card is a very important rule in my school and it is particularly disliked by me. It is also known as ID card. It was mandatory for everyone to wear it before entering the school gate. Majority of students forget it because they think it was not much important. Furthermore, school principal punish them in prayers if someone break that rule. In addition, the first and foremost reason why ID card are so important in that all the relevant information connected with the school as well as students and their teachers. It also helps a lot in an emergency. For example, if students get into accident outside of the school, people can find them by ID card. I felt very happy because I think this rule is very important as well as significant for students but I didn't like it very much. So, all in all this is a rule which I didn't like in my

Band 6-7

Okay, so if I have to talk about the rules, so when we get an assignment file, the teacher used to say at that time that it's a school rule that you don't have to decorate it the way you want to decorate it. Simply write your name and write the subject name and just you are done with your decorating part. So I don't get that point why it was not being allowed to decorate it in the way that we want to decorate it or we want to make it. I don't know about what others feel, but I feel like I can give more to my cover page of my assignment file. Maybe if it, you know, many of the people say that don't judge a book by its cover. So if the cover will not be nice, how can anybody can judge it? So I feel that the book is judged by the cover, so the cover should be great. So assignment file, if assignment file cover will look good, the inside material will definitely will be good. If a person is giving their time to decorate or to prepare a good cover, then the inner material will also be good, definitely, what I feel and I feel that rules are something which should be followed. I'm not saying the rules are meant to violate it, but for me, this was the only rule which I felt in my school time should not be followed. If it should be given a choice to make it the way you want to decorate or you want to make it, so definitely it will be not the way I used to make it because teacher don't allow us to do in the way that we want to.

Band 6-7

The one rule I did not like in my school was I had to compulsorily wear braids, two braids with black ribbons on each of them. I felt that the rule was completely unnecessary because it takes away the creative liberty of children. As a child we are very creative and sometimes we do want to experiment with our hair and express ourselves, but if you are making a hairstyle compulsory then it takes away that freedom and freedom to express yourself. Maybe some other girls in my school did not like the rule as well. Although I never broke that rule myself, some of my friends did break it, but we used to get punished for that as well. Another rule I did not like in my school was we had to compulsorily wear a uniform. I don't think uniforms are necessary again. It is the same problem. As a kid you want to experiment with things, you are very creative, you are very open minded, but just wearing one thing, it just shuts your mind down and it takes away any creative liberty you had or any ways to express yourself. Another rule was we were not allowed to do any kind of makeup. No lip balm, no lipstick, nothing. And I feel like clothes, hairstyle and makeup are the way an individual expresses themselves, it's their identity. So when you are prohibiting a student from doing the things that they love, it's like taking away their individuality.

Band 6-7

We all have been schooled and there is a particular rule that we all have to follow when we are in school, which is staying quiet in a classroom, not manned by a teacher. Usually, I am a representative of the teacher who will be picked up by the school and told that I am going to call the students and told as a class monitor. The responsibility of the class monitor is to ensure that silence is maintained. We, the students, are entrusted with the responsibility to maintain a level of silence. This is called the SPICE rule. I have realised that this is an exercise which is of utmost importance. This was one of the first lessons that we learnt about self-discipline and the power of silence. Now with the increasingly busy life schedule and the hustle and bustle where I am sitting, I simply find myself so that I can keep my thoughts untangled. That rule was very much necessary. I did break those rules. The punishment for this was putting lime on the board, which was considered to be a prize or a trophy for young boys. Even in the repercussions, it was something we would have to face.

Rule play imperative role in human being life. Some organization, government, school, college and multinational company also make rule for their safety of their employee and citizen also. Because rule play important role for safety of a citizen. Here I would like to rule that I really hated by me because this rule impact on my life really. I work in a pharmaceutical industry. There is rule for every worker to reach at the company at 9 o'clock. But sometimes we get late due to weak transport facility in my area and our company is strictly related to time management. It is good for everyone to reach their destination at the time and it help to management of our time. But sometimes we have need transport facility and we have no transport to reach out our workplace at timely. Additionally, sometimes we get confused about when we have faced some problem related to bus strike, railway strike. These are really impact on our working space. So, we call to our owner to give us 10 minutes delay to get our work done.

A rule that I did not like the most when I was a child, going back to school, I did not like wearing a uniform to school. Frankly speaking, the uniform of my school was not very fancy, it was a simple blue and white colored uniform. The white colored shirt was a solid half sleeve shirt and on top of the shirt we used to wear a petticoat which was knee length short. My uniform also included a white colored socks that was half the length of the cuff and it included black colored shoes. As part of my uniform, we also had to tie two ponytails or if the hair was longer than the shoulder, the female were asked to tie braids to their ponytails. Similarly, the boys had to wear a white shirt and a blue half pant with the similar shoe and socks pattern that the girls had. I completely disliked this because my uniform was not very fancy.
