When I see the word a good law, the only law I can think of is about drinking and driving. I think it is quite useful for the country as drink and drive incidents are very frequent in almost all parts of the globe. I came to know about it when I was a child and was sitting next to my father. He was driving on a highway where the police was checking the cars which they find were susceptible. I asked my father out of curiosity what were they doing with the device which they used to measure the alcohol range. He informed me about the law and told me that it is a significant one in our country because we have a wide range of alcohol and addictive drinks going on right there. Such incidents have become a common sight in newspapers and this law proves to eradicate all of these. The dedication of police to hold the cars on almost every check post and check each and every passenger on the car is something that I feel truly reflects the dedication of police towards their duty. Though there are a lot of good laws in our country, the most significant one has to be this.

So this particular law I really believe is great for everyone, for our country also is called right to freedom of speech. I got to know about this when I was studying in class 7. At that time there was my class teacher named Sir James. Sir James taught me civics which is about democracies, constitutions and laws of our country and I got to know about right to freedom of speech. I was very delighted when I heard about this, it's quite eccentric when I got to know all about the constitution and the laws. This particular right to freedom of speech affected every citizen, even democracy itself because if nobody had to point out to the democrats what they are doing and how it's affecting us, if nobody gets this right to speak then our democracy would not be called a democratic country. It would be total dictatorship and this affects everyone. This shapes our country and its future so I believe this is the best law in our country and I'll always stand on my belief.

One example is during protests against government policies. Citizens used their right to freedom of speech to voice their concerns, which led to discussions and sometimes changes in policy. This shows how vital this law is for holding leaders accountable.

Law. A law is nothing but rules given by the government and it should be followed by the citizens of the country. I don't think there is such a good law in my country but as I can remember now, a good law in my country regarding the dowry demands. In recent times we have seen a drop in dowry demands in the Indian country. But in earlier years we have seen because of the dowry cases, many girls have committed suicide and the justice was not given. But now it is a strict rule, a groom cannot demand money from a girl's family. Dowry cases were on the rise when it was in 1900s. But now in recent times, in 21st century, dowry cases have dropped so much that people don't even demand. They get scared by the police and the government. If you demand a dowry, a police will take an immediate action and a person is thrown into behind the bars with a fine and 5 year old punishment.

Follow up questions

How has the enforcement of this law changed societal attitudes towards dowry?
The enforcement of the dowry law has significantly changed societal attitudes. People are now more aware of the legal consequences of demanding dowry, which has led to a cultural shift. Families are beginning to view dowry as unacceptable, and there is a growing emphasis on equality in marriage.

What other laws do you think could improve the situation for women in your country?
Other laws that could improve the situation for women include stricter laws against domestic violence and better support systems for victims. Additionally, laws promoting women's education and employment opportunities can empower women and reduce reliance on dowry.

Can you share any personal experiences related to this law?
While I haven't personally experienced dowry demands, I have seen friends and family members affected by it. The fear of dowry-related issues has led to discussions about marriage and relationships, and many are now more cautious and informed about their rights.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

There are laws in every country to maintain peace and harmony, so also rules and regulations are important for the well-being and good working of the country. So, I would like to tell about one such law in my country that I think is very good for women. It is a Maternity Benefit Act law. I came to know about it while discussing with my cousins when one of our elder sister got pregnant and she got a pretty good maternity leave under this act. So, by this law, pregnant women get a complete long duration of maternity leave with paid salaries. I think it is a very good initiative towards country growth and also towards women development and women encouragement because it provides stability as well as financial help to women who struggle to deal with such problems during their maternity or pregnancy duration. Also it is a good step towards human equality, gender equality and many other things like on the other side when we say a man is pregnant, he does not have to leave his job or be focused on the baby but on the other side, the woman has to be focused on the baby as well as handle her financial situation. So this act is very helpful in cases where she is a single mom or she has to support her family as well as take care of the child and be healthy for the child. So this act helps in such situations and I think it is a very good initiative towards women empowerment.

There are many laws in our country which gives good benefits to all class of people from rich to poor. One of them is subsidies to farmer. Subsidies to farmer is a great law passed by the government. It provides discount on the machineries and crops, fertilizers, pesticides so that the farmer can get it at a cheaper rate and can use it in the land so that they can increase the production of crops and greens. It is good because farmers are able to use expensive fertilizers and pesticides at a cheaper rate so that there is no harmful chemical being used which will benefit all the human beings which are eating food grains without any pesticides and fertilizers.

I would have to say a good law in my country is not allowing the consumption, buying or selling or import of alcohol is one of the very good laws. I found out about it through the internet and also by living here, because over here in any shops you aren't able to get alcohol, even in the shops, restaurants, even at home you're not allowed to consume alcohol. I would say the law is very good, it keeps people away from drugs, so that they won't want to come in contact with it, so it won't affect their life and they also won't get addicted. It will probably help their personal growth and keeping them away and keep them physically stronger and also protect them from a ton of diseases that can occur due to consumption of alcohol. So I would say it's a really good law in the country. That's what I would say.

Laws always ensures to reduce the conflict between people living in the society. Law is very necessary in a country called India where people from different communities live together. In my viewpoint, as we know that there are many children who are illiterate in our country, especially in the states of Bihar and Mumbai. So, as a part, in 2010 the government have introduced a law called Right to Education Act. It means the students of age 6 to 14 have the right to get free education and they are not supposed to do any kind of work at that time. This law ensures the importance of education in the lives of people. It came into being in the year of 2010 and at that time I have the habit of reading newspaper on everyday morning. So, I came to know about the significance of this law. It affects children so that they will be able to recognize what is right and wrong from childhood onwards. It is very good for the upliftment of our society. As we know that there are many people who are illiterate and they face many challenges for their living. So, if children get adequate education in their childhood, they will definitely learn afterwards because they know that the education is very important.
