Which UK city is better for part-time IT and business analytics jobs, Manchester or Nottingham, for Indian master's students?

Manchester has a larger and more developed IT hub, which sounds like the obvious winner, but it also has significantly higher competition for the same jobs because of the much larger student and job-seeker population. Being one of hundreds of international analytics students applying for the same roles in Manchester is a different competitive environment than being one of a smaller group in Nottingham. Nottingham has a genuine technology sector, with companies including Capital One, Experian, and others with significant local presence, and the student-to-opportunity ratio can be more favourable for someone who is willing to build their network proactively.

• The quality of the part-time job you get in Nottingham is often comparable to what you would get in Manchester, but obtained with less competition.
• Manchester's advantage becomes meaningful if you are planning to stay in the UK after graduation and want to be in a larger metropolitan professional ecosystem during the degree.
• For the duration of the study itself, Nottingham's more manageable scale is frequently the better choice for students who want to actually access part-time opportunities rather than compete for them at high volume.
