Which master's specialisation suits a BTech graduate in Computer Science applying to Ireland?

Data science, cloud infrastructure, and software architecture are three different career tracks that happen to share a Computer Technology bachelor's as their starting point. Picking the specialisation before the university avoids ending up in a programme whose modules do not match the job title you actually want.

If Cloud Infrastructure Is Your Priority

• Direct match: National College of Ireland's full time MSc Cloud Computing includes Cloud Architectures, DevOpsSec, and scalable programming, built specifically for students moving toward cloud architect or DevOps roles.
• Intake timing: NCI lists its January intake explicitly for full time international computing programmes, which is useful if you are not ready for a September start.

If Data Science Is Your Priority

NCI's MSc Data Analytics is the closer match if you prefer Python, SQL, statistics, and machine learning work over infrastructure. Dublin City University also runs an MSc Computing with a Data Analytics stream, though check current application status each intake since some DCU January rounds close earlier than others.

If Software Architecture Is Your Priority

• Broadest route: a general MSc in Computer Science or Software Engineering with distributed systems, cloud, and architecture electives builds toward software architecture more directly than a narrowly titled cloud or data degree.

My Advice

In my experience, students choose between these three tracks based on what they enjoyed most in their Computer Technology coursework rather than what sounds most impressive. If you liked systems administration, networking, or deployment work, cloud computing will feel natural. If you preferred statistics and working with datasets, data analytics is the better fit. Confirm each shortlisted programme's non-EU eligibility for whichever intake you are targeting before you pay any application fee, since eligibility rules differ by university and by term.
