Can you explain the difference between Germany and Ireland regarding dependent visas and family stay for a PhD?

Germany is generally more flexible than Ireland for dependent visas and family stay.

- Germany: International students can usually bring spouses and children if your marriage existed before your student visa was issued, your stay is over one year, and you can financially support your family without public funds. Family members apply for a family reunification visa through the German mission in your home country. Requirements are subject to change.

- Ireland: Most international students cannot bring dependents. Only PhD students or those on specific government scholarships may bring immediate family, if they can show sufficient funds. Eligible dependents apply for a 'Join Family' visa. Policies are subject to change.
