What is the initial amount I should have in my account for UK visa, and can I pay tuition fees by working part-time after arrival?
You must show enough funds in your bank account for your UK Student visa: your full first-year tuition fees plus living expenses for up to nine months.
- London: £1,529/month for 9 months (£13,761 total)
- Outside London: £1,171/month for 9 months (£10,539 total)
These funds must be in your account for at least 28 consecutive days before you apply.
You cannot rely on part-time work after arrival to pay tuition fees. Visa rules require tuition fees to be covered upfront. Part-time work (up to 20 hours/week in term) can help with living costs but is not enough or intended for tuition.
