What is the difference between Australia and New Zealand visa processes?
Australia and New Zealand have different student visa processes:
- Australia: Requires a Student visa (subclass 500) for full-time study. Applicants must show proof of funds for tuition, living, and travel. Student visa holders can work up to 48 hours per fortnight during study periods. Applications are online through the Department of Home Affairs.
- New Zealand: Requires a Fee Paying Student Visa for courses over three months. Proof of funds for tuition and living expenses is needed. Work rights depend on visa conditions. Applications can be online or by printed form, and applying at least eight weeks before travel is recommended.
Visa rules and work rights are subject to change. For guidance on which process fits your profile best, connect with your LeapScholar counsellor.
