After completing a one-year Master's program in European countries, what are the post-study work visa options?

Most European countries offer the same post-study stay-back regardless of whether your Master's was 1 or 2 years. Ireland gives 24 months, Germany 18 months, UK 18-24 months, Spain 24 months, and Netherlands 12 months. Duration is tied to qualification level, not course length.

Good news - most European countries grant you the same post-study stay-back period whether your Master's was 1 year or 2 years. The duration is tied to your qualification level, not the course length.

My Advice

For Indian students specifically, Ireland and Germany are the two strongest options after a 1-year Master's. Ireland gives 2 full years in an English-speaking country with Google, Meta, Apple, and major pharma based in Dublin. Germany gives 18 months, lets you work any job while you search, and has a clear path to PR. The Netherlands is excellent but only gives 12 months - tight for landing a sponsored role. France is underrated, but language is a real barrier unless you've been building that alongside your degree.
