In the UK, placement opportunities are strong, but they are not guaranteed and depend heavily on your efforts, skills, networking, internships, and how actively you engage during your course. Universities do offer career support through job portals, career fairs, CV workshops, and alumni networks, but you need to be proactive in applying and building connections. A key advantage in the UK is the Graduate Route visa, which allows you to stay and work for up to 2 years after completing your degree (this is expected to reduce to 18 months from January 2027 onwards). During this period, you can work full-time in any role and use this time to secure a job aligned with your field. If you’re able to land a relevant role, you can then switch to a Skilled Worker visa, which requires employer sponsorship and allows you to stay longer in the UK. So while the UK provides a clear pathway to work after studies, your outcomes will ultimately depend on how well you utilize the opportunities available.
