How does the post-study work visa and job search process work in countries like France, Ireland, and New Zealand for a Master's?
France, Ireland, and New Zealand all offer post-study work visas that let you stay and work after completing your master's degree.
- France: After your master's, you can apply for the Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour (APS), valid for up to 24 months. You can work in any sector and later switch to a long-term work permit once employed.
- Ireland: The Third Level Graduate Programme (Stamp 1G) allows master's graduates to work full-time for up to 24 months without needing a job offer. You can use this time to find a job and then apply for a longer-term employment permit.
- New Zealand: The Post Study Work Visa lets master's graduates stay and work for up to three years, depending on your course. You can work for any employer and later apply for a longer-term work visa if you secure a job.
You do not need a job offer to apply for these post-study work visas. The initial visa period is meant to help you gain work experience and find employment related to your studies.
