It depends. Some MSc Finance programs in the US are classified as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), while others are not. The classification depends on the university and the program’s curriculum.

- STEM-designated programs: Allow international students to apply for a 24-month OPT (Optional Practical Training) extension, giving up to 36 months of post-study work in the US.
- Non-STEM programs: Typically allow only 12 months of OPT.
