Can you provide details about studying in Germany?
Studying in Germany is a popular choice for Indian students due to affordable tuition, strong academics, and good post-study work options.
- Tuition at public universities is low, usually only semester fees of €100 - €350 (₹9,000 - ₹32,000). Private universities charge higher, from €5,000 - €20,000/year. Some states charge extra fees for non-EU students.
- Living expenses are typically €700 - €1,200/month (₹77,000 - ₹1,32,000), including accommodation and food.
- Admission for master’s requires a relevant bachelor’s degree and an APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate. Many master’s programs are taught in English and require IELTS or TOEFL. German-taught courses need B2-level German.
- Student visa is required and the process can take time. Students can work part-time (up to 120 full days/year).
- After graduation, you can apply for an 18-month job seeker visa to find work in Germany.
