It depends on the country and your course type.

UK:
Only certain postgraduate students - mainly those in research-based programs (like PhDs) or with government sponsorship - can bring dependants (spouse/partner, children under 18) as of January 2024. Dependants may be allowed to work, but your eligibility depends on your specific course. You must show sufficient funds for their stay.

Canada:
Spouse/partner and dependent children can usually accompany you. Spouses may be eligible for an open work permit, allowing them to work full-time, while children can attend school. You must show enough financial resources for your family’s living expenses.
