Are there post-study work permits available in the UK and Germany for a Bachelor's/Master's?
Yes, both the UK and Germany offer post-study work permits for international graduates.
- UK: The Graduate Route visa lets you stay and work for up to 2 years after a bachelor's or master's degree (3 years for PhD graduates). This 2-year period applies to applications made before 1 January 2027; applications submitted on or after that date receive 18 months, while PhD graduates continue to receive 3 years. From January 1, 2027, this will change to 18 months for bachelor's and master's graduates; PhD graduates will still get 3 years. No employer sponsorship is required during this period.
- Germany: You can get an 18-month residence permit after graduation to find a job related to your field. You may work in any job during this time. Once you secure relevant employment, you can switch to a work permit or EU Blue Card.
Visa rules are subject to change.
