Not every MSc Physics programme accepts every Physical Sciences graduate automatically. Some UK universities specifically require a strongly physics-based bachelor's degree, so your actual undergraduate subjects, not the degree title, decide which specialisations are realistically open to you.

Why Medical Physics Leads Both Destinations

  • Concrete career sector: it connects physics directly to healthcare technology, hospitals and research organisations rather than an abstract research path.
  • UK example: the University of Surrey's Medical Physics MSc covers advanced medical technologies and points toward NHS and healthcare-company employers.
  • UAE example: Khalifa University's MSc in Medical Physics covers diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and radiation protection with hospital and government career paths.

A Long-Term UAE Angle Worth Knowing

Abu Dhabi's scientist and researcher Golden Visa route currently includes Master's or PhD holders in natural sciences, subject to university and research-achievement criteria. That makes a UAE Physics master's more than a career stepping stone if long-term residency in the region genuinely interests you, since it can feed directly into that visa pathway rather than requiring a separate qualification later.

My Advice

Check your bachelor's transcript against each programme's stated prerequisites before shortlisting, since UCL and similar universities explicitly require a strongly physics-based degree. If your goal is a job rather than a PhD, favour Medical Physics, Materials Physics or Computational Physics over Astrophysics or Theoretical Physics, which lean far more academic.
