Which English proficiency test should I take for my study abroad application, IELTS or Duolingo in UK/Canada for a Master's?

IELTS is the recommended test for your master's application in Canada or the UK for January 2027. It is widely accepted by universities and required by immigration authorities in both countries.

- IELTS: Accepted for university admissions and visa applications; assesses Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Duolingo English Test (DET): More affordable and convenient, but acceptance is limited. The UK does not accept DET for visas, and Canada only accepts it for some study permits - not for permanent residency.
