To apply for a German student visa, you must show proof of funds - typically through a blocked account - and follow these steps:

1. Secure admission to a recognized German university and gather required documents (passport, admission letter, academic certificates, health insurance, and language proof if needed).

2. Open a blocked account (Sperrkonto) and deposit €11,904 (covering €992/month for 12 months). Use approved providers like Fintiba, Expatrio, or Coracle. After deposit, you'll receive a blocking confirmation (Sperrbestätigung) for your visa application.

3. Submit your visa application at the German embassy or consulate in India, including all documents and blocked account proof.

4. After arrival in Germany, register your address, open a local bank account, and activate your blocked account to access monthly funds.

Scholarships or formal financial guarantees may be accepted in some cases, but the blocked account is the most widely used method.

Start the blocked account process at least 4 - 6 weeks before your visa appointment.
