What is the licensing procedure after completing a clinical psychology course in Dubai? Do I need to take an additional exam for the license or does it work the same way as in India?
No, Dubai's process differs from India's RCI route. You must clear the Prometric CPS5071 exam, a 150 question, 3 hour test needing a 55 percent pass score, plus complete DataFlow verification, degree equalization, and 2 years of supervised clinical experience before the Dubai Health Authority activates your license.
No, Dubai does not work the same way as India's Rehabilitation Council route. In India you register with the RCI after your clinical psychology degree with no separate national exam, but in Dubai you must clear an additional licensing exam, complete strict background verification, and log supervised experience before you can practice.
India Vs Dubai Licensing At A Glance

| Exam format | Not applicable | 150 MCQs, 3 hours, 55% to pass |
| Background check | Handled at university level | Strict DataFlow primary source verification |
| Experience needed | None immediately after training | 2 years of supervised post qualification practice |
| Jurisdiction | Valid nationwide | Emirate specific, DHA covers Dubai only |
Steps To Get Licensed In Dubai
- Submit your degrees, transcripts, and Indian RCI license to the DataFlow Group for verification, and apply for degree equalization through the UAE Ministry of Education.
- Register on the DHA Sheryan Portal and complete the online self assessment to confirm your eligibility category.
- Pass the Prometric CPS5071 exam, which covers clinical psychology, research methodology, developmental psychology, and healthcare ethics.
- Once DataFlow clears you and you pass the exam, DHA issues an Eligibility Letter, which a hiring facility then activates into your full license.
My Advice
Start your DataFlow verification and degree equalization the moment you decide on Dubai, since primary source checks with Indian universities routinely take the longest part of this timeline. Book your Prometric exam only after you have completed, or are very close to completing, your 2 years of supervised experience, so your Eligibility Letter does not expire while you are still job hunting.
