The work permit (Post-Graduation Work Permit, PGWP) you receive after a PG diploma in Canada is typically valid for the same length as your program if it lasts between 8 months and less than 2 years. For example, a 1-year PG diploma usually grants a 1-year work permit.

- PG diploma under 2 years: PGWP matches program length
- PG diploma 2 years or longer: PGWP can be up to 3 years

Your program must be from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) with a PGWP-eligible course. From November 1, 2024, you must also show proof of language proficiency and have a passport valid for the full permit duration.
