For permanent residency in Australia, you need a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 in each band (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) to meet the "Competent English" requirement. This level does not add points to your migration application.
For a stronger PR application, higher scores earn more points:
- IELTS 7.0 in each band ("Proficient English") adds 10 points.
- IELTS 8.0 in each band ("Superior English") adds 20 points.
