In Canada, the updated rules for Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP) are:
- Master's degree (8+ months): Up to 3-year PGWP, even if the program is less than 2 years.
- Other programs (8 months to <2 years): PGWP matches program length (e.g., 9-month program = 9-month permit).
- Programs 2 years or longer: Up to 3-year PGWP.
- PGWP is one-time and non-renewable.
- Apply within 180 days of completing your program.
- Passport validity: PGWP will not exceed your passport's expiry date.
- From November 1, 2024: Most applicants must show proof of language proficiency.
