After completing your master's in Canada, you have two main options: stay and work towards permanent residency, or return to India.

- Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP): After your degree, you can apply for a PGWP (open work permit) to work in Canada. For programs of 2 years or more, the PGWP is typically valid for up to 3 years. You must apply within 180 days of finishing your program. This permit is only issued once.

- Pathway to Permanent Residency (PR): Canadian work experience gained during your PGWP can help you qualify for PR through pathways like the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) under Express Entry. One year of skilled work experience in Canada is usually required.

- Returning to India: If you return to India, your Canadian degree and international experience can boost your career prospects in the Indian job market.

PGWP and PR rules are subject to change. If you need help planning your next steps, connect with your LeapScholar counsellor.
