Is the GMAT exam difficult and how is it structured?
The GMAT exam is considered challenging because it tests a wide range of skills needed for business school, including analytical writing, quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, and data analysis. The level of difficulty depends on your strengths in math, English, and critical thinking, as well as your preparation.
The exam structure is:
- Quantitative Reasoning: 21 questions on math problem-solving and data sufficiency (arithmetic, algebra, geometry)
- Verbal Reasoning: 23 questions on reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence correction
- Data Insights: 20 questions involving data interpretation from graphs, tables, and multiple sources
Total test time is about 2 hours and 15 minutes, with an optional 10-minute break. The test is computer-adaptive, so question difficulty adjusts based on your answers. Focused preparation can help you succeed.
