Is it easier to apply for a student visa again after my previous Schengen visa expired?
It depends. Reapplying for a student visa after your previous Schengen visa expired is possible, but your visa history will be visible to consulates for five years through the Schengen Information System (SIS).
An expired visa alone does not automatically harm your new application. However, if your previous visa expired due to overstaying or other issues, you should clearly address and resolve these in your new application.
- Be transparent about your visa history.
- Provide strong documentation showing financial means, a clear study plan, and ties to India.
- Address any previous issues directly if they could affect your application.
A well-prepared application and honest disclosure will improve your chances. If you need help addressing past visa issues, connect with your LeapScholar counsellor.
