International students can become eligible for Permanent Residency (PR) in Ireland, but the process typically takes about five years after your studies. First, you need to complete a full-time program at an Irish institution and then apply for the Third Level Graduate Programme, which allows you to stay and work in Ireland for up to 24 months. During this time, securing relevant employment is important, as it lets you apply for an employment permit - either the Critical Skills or General Employment Permit. After five years of continuous, lawful residence under a valid employment permit, you can apply for Long Term Residency. The initial study period does not count toward PR; only post-study work experience is considered.
