Can I apply for PR within three years of study and work in Canada?
Yes, you can apply for Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada within about three years if you follow the right pathway.
- Study: Choose a program at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) that makes you eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Programs of at least two years usually lead to a PGWP valid for up to three years.
- Work: After graduation, use your PGWP to gain at least one year of full-time skilled work experience (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3).
- Apply for PR: Once you have the required Canadian work experience, you can apply for PR through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) under Express Entry or via Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
Policies and eligibility requirements are subject to change.
