After completing my course, do I get a two-year stay-back option on the post-study visa in UK for a Master's?
Yes, after completing your master's degree in the UK, you are eligible for the Graduate Visa, which currently allows you to stay and work in the UK for up to two years after your studies.
This two-year period applies if you apply for the Graduate Visa on or before 31 December 2026. For applications submitted on or after 1 January 2027, the stay-back period will be reduced to 18 months (subject to change).
- You must complete your degree at a UK higher education provider.
- You need a valid Student visa when you apply, and must apply from within the UK.
- The Graduate Visa cannot be extended or renewed.
The Graduate Visa does not require a job offer and lets you work at any skill level, but it does not lead directly to permanent residency. If you plan to stay longer, you may later switch to a Skilled Worker visa with a job offer.
