Will the government of Canada provide me work there after studying?
Yes, after completing your studies in Canada, you can apply to work there through the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program. This permit allows you to gain Canadian work experience after graduation.
- Eligibility: You must complete a program of at least 8 months at a designated learning institution (DLI) and maintain full-time student status throughout your studies (with some exceptions in your final semester).
- Application window: Apply within 180 days of receiving confirmation that you completed your program.
- Permit duration: The PGWP is usually valid for up to 3 years, depending on your program length.
- One-time opportunity: You can only receive the PGWP once.
PGWP rules and requirements are subject to change. For guidance on your specific situation, connect with your LeapScholar counsellor.
