• What comes after: the career path you intend to pursue once you finish the IT degree.

An Important Distinction on When This Applies

The strict academic-progression requirement mainly applies when you are applying for a new Student visa from inside the UK after previously holding Student or Tier 4 permission. If you are applying from India for your first UK course, you generally do not need to demonstrate academic progression under that specific rule, though UKVI can still assess whether you are a genuine student more broadly.
