Before comparing university league tables, an Indian BSc Nursing graduate needs to answer a more basic question: do you actually need a second UK nursing degree at all, or can your existing qualification register you directly with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Why Manchester Leads the Pre-Registration Shortlist

UniversityProgrammeWhy it fits
University of ManchesterMSc Adult Nursing, Pre-registrationTwo-year graduate-entry route, NMC-registerable
Manchester Metropolitan UniversityMSc Adult Nursing, Pre-registrationAccelerated two-year route, NMC approved
Coventry UniversityMSc Adult Nursing, Pre-registrationMultiple locations and intakes for graduates with a previous degree
University of ChesterMSc Pre-Registration Adult NursingAccepts international students, two-year programme
City St George's, University of LondonMSc Nursing, AdultNMC-approved pre-registration programme

Check NMC Direct Registration Before You Apply to Any of Them

Having a BSc Nursing from India does not automatically mean another nursing degree is your best route. If you are already a registered nurse in India, you may be able to apply directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Council as an internationally educated nurse through its overseas registration pathway, which can involve a qualification and eligibility assessment, English-language evidence, and where required, the Test of Competence. That route can save you two years of tuition and study time if your existing qualification is accepted.

Budget for the Visa, Not Just the Tuition

Factor UK Student visa maintenance costs into your comparison alongside tuition. The current requirement is 1,529 pounds per month if you are studying in London or 1,171 pounds per month outside London, for up to nine months, in addition to the course-fee requirement itself.

My Advice

Before you spend a rupee on applications, get a straight answer on your NMC overseas-registration eligibility. I have seen students spend two years and significant tuition on a pre-registration MSc when a shorter NMC assessment route would have gotten them registered faster. If your Indian qualification is not suitable for direct registration, Manchester is my first recommendation among the pre-registration options above.
