Which universities in the USA offer MS Computer Science for a B.Tech CS graduate, IELTS 7.0 and ₹60 lakhs budget?
With IELTS 7.0 and a Rs. 60 lakh budget, strong fits include San Jose State University, Arizona State University, SUNY Buffalo, UT Dallas, and UNC Charlotte. San Jose State's total 2-year tuition runs around $35,000, roughly Rs. 29 lakhs, leaving comfortable room within your budget for living costs.
Your IELTS score of 7.0 comfortably clears the language bar at these universities, and your Rs. 60 lakh budget stretches well if you target public universities in medium to low cost of living cities rather than expensive metro hubs.
Budget-Friendly MS Computer Science Universities
University | Location | Estimated Total Tuition (2 Years) | Tech Hub Proximity |
|---|---|---|---|
San Jose State University | San Jose, CA | ~$35,000 (~Rs. 29 lakhs) | Silicon Valley, immediate access |
SUNY Buffalo | Buffalo, NY | ~$38,000 | Northeast Tech Corridor |
UT Dallas | Dallas, TX | ~$42,000 | Dallas-Fort Worth Tech Hub |
UNC Charlotte | Charlotte, NC | ~$34,000 | East Coast Financial and Tech Hub |
How to Protect Your Rs. 60 Lakh Budget
Target 1.5-year, or 3-semester, accelerated paths where possible, which can save you Rs. 5 to 7 lakhs by cutting a semester of living costs.
Prioritize a Graduate, Teaching, or Research Assistantship, which can bring a stipend and a partial or full tuition waiver.
Avoid ultra-expensive cities like New York City or Boston unless you have secured substantial financial aid.
My Advice
Shortlist San Jose State first if Silicon Valley networking matters to you, since its tuition is the lowest on this list at roughly Rs. 29 lakhs for the full program. Pair your application with a genuine assistantship search from day one, since that single stipend can meaningfully cut your total two-year spend.
