Which universities and colleges in India accept SAT scores for undergraduate admission from Indian students?
Over 40 premier private Indian universities accept SAT scores from Indian residents, including Ashoka, Shiv Nadar, O.P. Jindal Global, Krea, FLAME, Plaksha, NMIMS, SRM, Manipal and Bennett. Public institutions like the IITs and NITs, and BITS Pilani for domestic students, do not accept the SAT.
You do not have to go abroad to use your SAT score. The College Board runs an India Global Higher Education Alliance, and over 40 top private universities accept the SAT from domestic Indian students across liberal arts, engineering, business and design programs.

|---|---|---|
| Ashoka University | Sonepat, Haryana | Liberal arts and sciences |
| Shiv Nadar University | Greater Noida, UP | B.Tech, business, humanities |
| O.P. Jindal Global University | Sonepat, Haryana | Business, global affairs, law |
| FLAME University | Pune, Maharashtra | Liberal education and management |
Key Caveats to Check
| Institution or Program | SAT Acceptance |
|---|---|
| NMIMS, SRM, Bennett, Plaksha | Accepted for B.Tech and management streams |
| IITs and NITs | Not accepted for domestic Indian residents |
| BITS Pilani and IIIT Hyderabad | Only for foreign nationals, not domestic |
| Ahmedabad University engineering | Not accepted for engineering |
My Advice
Confirm SAT acceptance program by program, not just university by university, because a school may take the SAT for liberal arts but not for engineering. Check the official College Board India list before you apply, and if you are targeting the IITs, NITs or BITS as a domestic student, remember the SAT will not help there, so keep JEE or the relevant entrance test on your plan.
