Which master's specialisation suits a graduate in Management Studies applying to USA or UK?

A second broad management degree rarely differentiates a Management Studies graduate the way a specialised master's does. Business Analytics converts your existing business foundation into a technical skill set (SQL, Power BI, statistics) that recruiters can map to a specific job title, which a generic MiM usually cannot.

Why Business Analytics Beats a Generic MiM for a Management Studies Graduate

  • Clearer job mapping: Business Analytics graduates target Business Analyst, BI Analyst or Marketing Analyst roles, while a generic MiM leaves the job title undefined.
  • STEM eligibility in the USA: USCIS confirms qualifying F-1 graduates from a STEM-designated program can apply for the 24 month STEM OPT extension, but you must verify the specific program's CIP code, not just its title.
  • Doesn't require a coding background: most Business Analytics programs assume statistics and Excel, not a computer science degree, so a Management Studies graduate is not starting from zero.

Backup Specialisations If Business Analytics Isn't for You

  • Supply Chain Management: one of the cleanest academic transitions from a business degree, strong in the USA.
  • Financial Analytics: pick this over a purely theoretical Finance degree if your maths background isn't very strong.
  • Marketing Analytics: better than a generic MSc Marketing because it pairs consumer behaviour with quantitative skills.

My Advice

Don't take a course title at face value. I have seen students assume any degree called Business Analytics is STEM-designated in the USA when it isn't, so ask the university directly for the CIP code before you commit. If your maths is weaker, Supply Chain Management is genuinely underrated and often has less competition than analytics programs for the same job outcomes.
