If you are genuinely willing to strengthen your programming and statistics, Bioinformatics or Computational Biology is worth serious consideration. Do not choose this path only because it sounds employable; it demands real comfort with code.

Germany or Ireland: What Actually Decides It

Choose Ireland if an English-speaking environment and direct pharma-industry alignment matter most to you, but budget for higher tuition, for example University of Galway's 2026/27 non-EU fee of 28,500 euros for its MSc Biotechnology. Choose Germany if lower cost and a broader range of engineering-adjacent master's options matter more, and you are willing to work toward German B1 or B2 for stronger job prospects later.

In my experience, the biggest mistake here is picking a programme purely because the word biotechnology appears in the title. Look at the actual modules, thesis structure, and whether the programme has an industry placement before applying, and pick your country based on your budget and language comfort rather than name recognition alone.
