Do not choose a master's just because its title sounds related to Agriculture. Bologna's Precise and Sustainable Agriculture programme, for example, specifies minimum credits in chemistry, biology, mathematics and several agricultural subject areas, so your BSc transcript, not just its title, decides which programmes you can actually get into.

Sustainable Agriculture vs Precision Agriculture: What Decides This

ProgrammeUniversityBest If You Want
MSc Sustainable AgricultureUniversity of PaduaAgronomy, crop production, soil and water management, agricultural consulting
Precise and Sustainable AgricultureUniversity of BolognaPrecision farming, GIS, remote sensing, agricultural technology
Crop and Plant SciencesUniversity of MilanPlant physiology, breeding, research and an eventual PhD

Two More Options Worth Checking

If you'd rather move from farm into food industry, the University of Naples Federico II's English-taught Sustainable Food Systems master's covers the full chain from primary production through processing and regulation. The University of Pavia's Agri-food Sustainability master's combines agricultural science with supply-chain quality and agroecology, a good fit if business and sustainability interest you as much as farming itself.

The Universitaly Pre-Enrolment Step Most Applicants Miss

Getting an offer letter from Padua or Bologna is only half the process for an Indian student. Non-EU applicants also need to complete pre-enrolment through the Universitaly portal and coordinate with the Italian embassy or consulate in India for a study visa, a step that runs on its own timeline separate from the university's own admissions decision. Missing the pre-enrolment window, which typically closes well before the programme's actual start date, is a common and entirely avoidable reason Indian applicants lose a place they were already admitted to, so start this step the same week you accept an offer rather than after your visa appointment is already booked.

My Advice

In my experience, cross-check the credit requirements on the actual programme page before you shortlist, not just the course description. Bologna's precision agriculture programme, for instance, lists specific minimum credits across chemistry, biology and mathematics, and losing an offer over a missing prerequisite is a completely avoidable mistake.
