For master's applications, you typically need:

- USA: 2 - 3 letters of recommendation, ideally a mix of academic and professional references. At least one should be from a professor who knows your academic work.
- UK: 1 - 2 letters, usually academic references. If you’ve been working for several years, some universities may accept a professional reference.

Academic LORs should come from professors or lecturers who can discuss your academic abilities and research potential. Professional LORs should be from supervisors who can speak to your work ethic and leadership.

Choose recommenders who know you well and can provide specific examples of your achievements.
