Which documents do I need to prepare for my Malta Study D-Visa application?
For a Malta Study D-Visa, your file may include a passport valid for at least 10 months, your admission letter, proof of tuition payment, three months of bank statements, accommodation proof for the first 14 nights, insurance, a flight itinerary, one photograph, a signed form and a VFS appointment letter.
If your course is 105 days or more and you are a non-EU student, you generally need a Study D-Visa before you travel. Your file may include a passport valid for at least 10 months, your admission letter and proof that you have paid tuition. Prepare the full set early, because visa officers can ask for more.
Documents your visa file may include
| Document | What to prepare |
|---|---|
| Passport | Valid for at least 10 months |
| Admission or enrolment letter | From an approved Maltese institution |
| Tuition payment | Proof that the fee has been paid |
| Bank statements | Statements for the last three months |
| Bank certificate | A recent one showing sufficient funds |
| International bank card | A copy of the card you will use in Malta |
| Accommodation | Proof for your first 14 nights |
| Insurance and travel | Medical and travel insurance, plus a flight itinerary |
| Academic records | Transcripts; certificates are not a standard requirement |
| Forms and photos | One photograph, the signed application form and your VFS appointment letter |
| Police Clearance Certificate | Only if the visa office asks for it |
What to keep in mind
- Admission without an IELTS score does not guarantee a visa, because visa authorities review your documents separately.
- The institution decides which English proof it accepts, so confirm this before you apply.
- The visa office may ask for extra information after you submit, so keep spare copies ready.
My Advice
Build a checklist the day you get your admission letter and tick off each item with dates. Keep your bank statements recent, since they cover the last three months. If anything looks unclear, check with the Maltese visa authorities or your institution before you submit.
