When applying to master's programs in the UK and Italy, should I submit my final year GPA or my overall GPA?

Both UK and Italian admissions systems are built around your whole degree record, so the final year alone almost never satisfies what the application form is actually asking for, unless the form uses that specific wording.

UK Universities: Overall Is the Default

• University College London: asks graduates to submit the final official transcript showing marks across the whole degree along with the final award grade, not an isolated final-year number.
• University of Cambridge: instructs applicants with non-UK qualifications to enter the qualification in its own domestic format, so an independently converted GPA is not what the system expects.
• Queen's University Belfast: like most UK institutions, evaluates the complete transcript for Indian applicants rather than isolating any single year.

Italy: Check the University, but Cumulative Wins

Politecnico di Milano and the University of Genoa both ask specifically for a cumulative GPA figure across the bachelor's degree, with Genoa explicitly requesting the CGPA obtained up to the most recent completed semester if you have not yet graduated. Politecnico di Torino uses a weighted average across all exams for certain admissions decisions, reinforcing that the full record, not one strong year, is what gets evaluated.

My Advice

If a form simply says GPA or CGPA, always enter the cumulative figure across all years, even if your final year was your strongest. Only switch to a final-year number if the application explicitly uses the phrase final-year GPA or last-year GPA. Do not independently convert your Indian 10-point CGPA into a UK percentage or 4.0 scale unless a specific university instructs you to.
