What should I do in the last few hours before my UK student visa interview?
In the last few hours, do not memorise model answers. Recheck the details of your own application: your CAS, course, funding, university choice, plans for settling in the UK and supporting documents. Your answers should match what you submitted, and you should mention any change honestly.
In the final hours, use your time to revisit details specific to your UK Student visa application rather than learning dozens of scripted answers. These details are what you are most likely to be asked to explain clearly. Go through the checklist below once, calmly.
What to check once before the interview
| Area | What to be ready to explain |
|---|---|
| CAS | Course title, start and end dates, tuition fee, amount already paid and any qualifications listed |
| Course | Subjects you will study and the career progression it supports, not just module names |
| Funding | Who is paying, where the money is held, how long it has been available (usually 28 consecutive days, if funds must be shown) and how tuition and living costs are covered |
| University | Location, campus, course facilities and why you chose it over others |
| Settling in | Where you plan to stay and roughly what that costs |
Work, documents and changes
- Work: if asked, show that studying is your main purpose and that your finances do not depend on finding a job. Work conditions can vary by course and sponsoring institution.
- Documents: keep your passport, CAS details, financial evidence (if required) and academic records handy, plus a TB or ATAS certificate if either applies to your circumstances.
- Depending on your circumstances, UKVI may also ask for sponsor consent or parental documents.
- Changes: if anything has changed since you applied, state it clearly and explain it.
My Advice
Read your CAS and application form line by line once, then stop. Mention only the points that genuinely shaped your decision instead of quoting rankings. You do not need booked hotel tickets, but you should know where you will stay and what it costs.
