Steps to Move From Student to Residency Visa
- Get your degree attested by your home country's education ministry, then the UAE embassy, then UAE MOFA
- Apply for an Equivalency Certificate through the UAE Ministry of Education if your degree is from abroad
- Submit your application through the ICP portal or GDRFA Dubai, or let your employer start it through MOHRE
- Complete your medical fitness test and biometrics at an approved MOHAP and ICP center
- Collect your Emirates ID, which arrives within 5 to 10 business days of approval

Start your degree attestation process the moment you finish your final exams, since MOFA and embassy stamping can take several weeks and your 180 day grace period starts ticking as soon as your student visa is cancelled.
