What is the process for obtaining a UK student visa?
To obtain a UK Student visa, follow these key steps:
- Secure an unconditional offer from a UK university.
- Receive a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from the university after accepting your offer.
- Prepare financial documents showing you have enough funds for tuition and living expenses (typically £1,334/month in London or £1,023/month elsewhere, subject to change).
- Demonstrate English language proficiency if required by your university (tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE).
- Apply online for the visa. Pay the application fee (about £524, subject to change) and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) for NHS access.
- Provide biometric information - either through the UK Immigration: ID Check app or at a visa application centre, depending on your passport.
Visa processing usually takes around 3 weeks. If you need help at any stage, reach out to your LeapScholar counsellor.
