What is the process and timeline to start my study abroad application in UK?
Start your UK study abroad application 6 - 12 months before your intended course start date. This gives you enough time for all steps:
- Apply to universities: Prepare and submit your applications, including transcripts and recommendation letters.
- Accept your offer: Once you get an unconditional offer, accept it to receive your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from the university.
- Apply for your UK Student Visa: With your CAS, apply for your visa up to 6 months before your course begins. Typical processing is 3 weeks, but it can take up to 6 weeks during peak times.
- Financial planning: Make sure you have funds for tuition and living expenses. The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is £776/year (subject to change).
- Biometric appointment: Attend a Visa Application Centre in India to provide your fingerprints and photo.
- Travel: Once your visa is approved, you can enter the UK up to 1 month before your course starts.
Based on your profile and September 2026 intake goal, begin your university applications as soon as possible to stay on track. If you need personalized guidance, reach out to your LeapScholar counsellor.
